With a Transplant, Outcome is Everything

Surgeons in the U.S. perform an average of 2,200 heart transplants per year, but many times, a donor heart is rejected by the recipient’s body despite a successful surgery. Dr. Hari Mallidi, MD, FRCSC, and his team at the Heart Transplant Program at the Texas Heart® Institute at CHI St. Luke’s Health–Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center are finding new ways to help ensure that heart transplant recipients can go on to live normal, healthy lives without the worry of organ rejection.

Dr. Mallidi’s passion for advancing the fight against cardiovascular disease is what drives him to help ensure that every person who needs a heart transplant is given the best possible care, and is why he has dedicated his life’s work to giving heart patients a new lease on life.
